Our Planning Work Program helps our community, transportation and development review planners know which projects to work on by prioritizing needs with the guidance and support of the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

The work program balances:

  • Staff and budget resources
  • Regulatory requirements (federal, state, regional mandates)
  • Community input and requests

Most of our planning work is ongoing and required by state or local policies. This includes:

  • Development review
  • Comprehensive Plan amendments, transportation modeling, mapping, Transportation Development Tax administration and Statewide Transit Improvement Fund management
  • Planning efforts at the local, regional and state level, such as city planning for new urban areas and the Metro Regional Transportation Plan
  • Implementation of local, regional and state policies
  • Planning for major regional transportation projects like the TV Highway Transit and Safety project

The following tables provide more information about specific projects in addition to our ongoing work which we’re anticipating over the next two years. Much of this work is also required by federal, state or local regulations.

Review the major initiatives and ongoing tasks in the Draft Planning Work Program 2025-27.
